Our Commitment to Diversity & Secularity
A welcoming, inclusive community for every family
At Piedmont Progressive Preschool, diversity is at the heart of who we are.
We welcome families from all backgrounds and believe that a community rich in culture, experience, and perspective strengthens our school and deepens children’s learning.
Our classrooms reflect the world our children are growing up in—thoughtfully, respectfully, and with care.
What Diversity Looks Like at PPP
You may see families from many cultures, traditions, and lived experiences within our community. We believe this variety enriches daily life at school—through conversations, shared experiences, and the values children absorb simply by being together.
At PPP, children learn empathy, respect, and curiosity by engaging with peers and adults who reflect a broad and beautiful range of backgrounds.

A Secular Program, Rooted in Tradition
Because of our commitment to inclusivity, Piedmont Progressive Preschool is an entirely secular program.

While we do not celebrate religious holidays, our school is deeply tradition-rich. Throughout the year, children experience meaningful rhythms and shared rituals—celebrating the seasons, participating in long-standing school practices, and gathering together as a community through shared meals and events.

Many of these rhythms are part of what we call our cherished traditions, which help create a sense of continuity and belonging for children year after year. Just as importantly, these moments are grounded in nurturing connections—between children, educators, and families—so that every child feels seen, supported, and included.
Our Shared Campus

As you arrive on campus, you may notice that we share our space with Piedmont Unitarian Universalist Church.
Since our founding, we have shared this space in a professional capacity, working alongside one another to support a common goal: providing a high-quality preschool experience with accessibility in mind.
While we share a physical location, Piedmont Progressive Preschool is fully secular. Religious beliefs and practices are not integrated into our curriculum or daily experiences, allowing us to serve children and families from all walks of life.
What This Means for Families
For families, this means:

-
A welcoming environment where every child belongs
-
A program grounded in shared human values, not religious instruction
-
Traditions that honor nature, community, and childhood itself
-
A school culture rooted in respect, curiosity, and connection
A Community Where Everyone Belongs
We are proud to be a school where many paths, stories, and identities come together—where children learn not only how to be learners, but how to be part of a caring, diverse community.
We believe that honoring differences, nurturing connection, and creating shared traditions allows every child to feel secure, seen, and valued.
Our team is always happy to connect.
